Jason can keep a surprisingly level head even while a friend is being ripped apart. Swimming is hard when you are juggling lanterns and a still healing arm, which probably accounts for the terrible bites. However, water and electricity are not so good friends and he would probably use that to get the fish or whatever off himself and (since they were close to the shore) use his power of flight to get his demigod ass OUT of the water as soon as possible.
