He's not at all tech savvy, and to be honest, he's not actually concerned about the data on the tablet! He just wants to be able to have the tablet as an asset to barter with. He needs something of immense value from Pluto, and a mildly working tablet is a better bartering chip than a broken one. There are a few pictures on there that may be of vague value on there, but he really only just got it before he yote it into that sink. Nothing valuable there, sentimental or otherwise!
