So you died. Again. Great job! The good news is, you can still come back to whatever semblance of life you had here in Beacon. Shortly after your death, your body will vanish, only to reappear a few days later, (now "alive",) on one of the pews in the church. The bad news is, you can't just do this forever.

Your first death is a freebie. Your character comes back just as they were, minus the injuries/conditions that killed them in the first place. Starting at their second death, however, characters will begin to experience consequences. They'll still come back, just not quite as they were before. Perhaps something's missing, or broken, or drastically changed. It can be a body part, a sense, an aspect of their personality. Whatever it is, something is wrong now. And as far as anyone knows, there's no way to fix it.

What's more, these effects continue to stack, growing worse each time a character dies. For example, after four deaths, that's three separate alterations, each one more serious than the last. The first consequence might be something small (e.g. a change in hair color), but the second will be a bit worse (e.g. colorblindness), and the third even worse (e.g. losing memories of friends from home), and so on.

In addition to these personal changes, characters may notice that their lanterns are beginning to look a little shabby as well. There's probably some sort of connection there.

Regardless of how many times a character has died, they will always revive in the church at least a day after their death. Typically, characters will revive 2-3 days after their death, but feel free to take liberties with the timing.

manner of death: I am veeeery interested in having Masaomi be the first (or one of the first) to join the parade. He'll be at the school when he hears the celebration and checks it out. I'm not sure how to turn this into a log without killing off other characters yet, so I have nothing to link. But I wanted to make sure the mods knew I was interested in this!
consequence: First death freebie, but if dying to the parade sets off its own specific consequence, I'm super down.

When Masaomi is in sight of the parade, he'll find it quickly difficult to resist following along beside it. The festivity is so colorful and full of life, spirits jumping and dancing and roaring in splendid happiness. He'll feel that he'd be welcomed if he were simply to slip into the ranks of spirits, and in joining them, his other fears, worries, and anxieties would simply cease to matter. Maybe it isn't even a conscious decision, but suddenly he's in the thick of it, whooping and hollering with all the other bodies, and he's the only one who doesn't quite seem to match up. The only odd body in a sea of odd bodies.

If it hurts, its an agony in the very back of his mind as he tears his body apart in the midst of his dancing and singing. His skin is the problem: it has to go, and go it shall. As pieces of himself are discarded behind his dripping figure, he'll catch glimpses of something green and glowing being tossed back and forth between the spirits, like a baton being passed. It seems like it might be a rock, but its hard to tell. And eventually, having lost quite a lot of blood, his body simply gives out, and his lantern is trampled along with his bones. Masaomi is dust.
