GACHA MACHINE

After the events of August's party, the Librarian had gone back and grabbed a peculiar-looking machine from the bonfire, dragging it back over towards the Village. It's not all that flashy looking a machine; rather, it's rusted, some of the lightbulbs shattered, the paint scratched away. It makes the new, yellow-white piece of paper taped carefully to the front all the more noticeable.

There are written instructions there, carefully scrawled. It being the Librarian who wrote them, there's a lot of symbols in place of words, and honestly, it's really more of a tentative grasp on literacy going on here. But with a bit of thinking, you can figure it out:

1. Insert an offering (any offering) into the coin slot
2. Answer the riddle
3. ??
4. Prize!!

There's an array of prizes. Some are useful, some less so. But you'll never know if you don't try, and it might just be worth the effort. Unfortunately, it only responds to people once a week— meaning you can only get four prizes a month! But given the prizes, four might just be overwhelming enough.

[ What a week, gacha machine! He has so many memories to talk about now, he just needs some time to get them all in his head. Man, he's going to have some great stories to tell you, sweet gacha machine! They'll just have to wait for March. ]

Man, I wonder if your memories are around here? Like, you remember people like me, right? There have gotta be people who made friends with you in the past, too. I'd like to meet them. [ Sora hums a little, getting his gift for the gacha machine out. ]

Then again... if everything resets in Beacon, does that mean you'll reset too? Like, if Robin had to reset us, and another me came... [ Sora thinks about it for a moment. No, they wouldn't remember him, would they? Or maybe this is the first time they've met. ] Well, maybe it doesn't matter much? I'm glad I met you.

[ Today's gift is a drawing! It's in crayon, a bright palm tree on a beach overlooking a sunset. ] My friend Naminé drew this for me. Make sure you take good care of it.

[If the machine knows these answers, it doesn't reply. But the drawing is very carefully taken into the machine, so perhaps it understands after all. It lights up, a sad little tune plays, and a card is spit out.]

[ Oh, gacha machine. ;o; Sora notes the meekness. This was a little heavy, wasn't it?

Anyway, the answer to this one is so natural he just blurts it out. ]

Oh, a promise! Wait, no, it's something you give, you make a promise. [ Sora thinks about it. ] I give... my oath? My word? Something like that, right?

[Ding ding ding! Absolutely correct! His prize rolls out, along with a slip of paper that serves as explanation. I wonder what it could be?]

[ ... He won't face him the wall, but what kinds of bad things would happen? Hm. At least he doesn't have to name this one. ]

I give you my word that if I have to come back here, I'll be friends with you again. [ ... He shakes his head. ] You might have to wait for a few Soras to come and go, but I'll be the Sora who always looks happy to see you. Promise. [ And he'll pat the gacha machine one more time before continuing on with the rest of his week! ]
