GACHA MACHINE

After the events of August's party, the Librarian had gone back and grabbed a peculiar-looking machine from the bonfire, dragging it back over towards the Village. It's not all that flashy looking a machine; rather, it's rusted, some of the lightbulbs shattered, the paint scratched away. It makes the new, yellow-white piece of paper taped carefully to the front all the more noticeable.

There are written instructions there, carefully scrawled. It being the Librarian who wrote them, there's a lot of symbols in place of words, and honestly, it's really more of a tentative grasp on literacy going on here. But with a bit of thinking, you can figure it out:

1. Insert an offering (any offering) into the coin slot
2. Answer the riddle
3. ??
4. Prize!!

There's an array of prizes. Some are useful, some less so. But you'll never know if you don't try, and it might just be worth the effort. Unfortunately, it only responds to people once a week— meaning you can only get four prizes a month! But given the prizes, four might just be overwhelming enough.

third week of march

[ Back again to snip off that ribbon! Aaaand he'll actually replace that with a green bunch of ribbon for St. Patrick's Day. No reason not to be festive about it, right? ]

You know, I don't actually know what St. Paddy's Day's supposed to be all about? Like, he's the saint for Ireland, but I didn't go to Mass much so I don't know why he was important. Feels like a day for people to think about Ireland and drink a lot.

[ He hums, thinking about it. ] Maybe it's 'cause of Lent? I didn't do Lent, but it's supposed to be a month where you're supposed to hold back on a vice. Drinking's one of them. I guess they made an exception for St. Patrick's Day? [ Sora nods! ] Maybe that's it. I'd be happy to take a break from trying to hold back, too.

[ And on that note, he'll slip in a piece of paper with the name of a song he's been listening to on Songbird lately! No relevance to anything, he just likes it. ]

[Honestly? That machine knows even less, so that explanation works as well as any. The machine lights up, a happy little tune plays (hm, it sounds a little like the song whose name Sora just popped in), and a card is spit out.]

[ Custom songs... For Sora... Sora's going to literally just say "gosh" out loud, quietly. Thank you, gacha machine!

Sora is actually going to give this one a good ponder because the answer seems so easy that he's pretty sure it's a trick question! ]

I... my guy, there are so many things you can't eat on a dinner table. [ BIG PONDER. ] The plates and cups and silverware, I guess? And the tablecloth. And the salt and pepper shakers. [ BIGGER PONDER. ] This feels like a trick question...

[Ding ding ding! Absolutely correct! His prize rolls out, along with a slip of paper that serves as explanation. I wonder what it could be?]

12. Whalebone charm: Made of Dunwall's finest whalebone, this charm is guaranteed to be ten times as lucky as your other jewelry made of skeleton parts. Say goodbye to that annoying necklace of rabbit feet, bat wings and shriveled hands you usually wear to buy lottery tickets.

[ Hm. Sora makes a motion just to tie it back onto the machine for good luck, but realizes that he should treasure it. This will be a quick thank you, a pat on the dome, and an exit! ]
