THE NIGHT MARKET: PURCHASE PAGE
The Night Market is OPEN. They will close up shop again at the end of the day on April 12.
(All purchases must be made while the market is open! Backdated purchases won't be accepted.)
When the Night Market is in town, players can have their characters make purchases through this page. All transactions will need to be logged here, though you're welcome to thread out the purchase on the visit log.
Accepted currencies at the Night Market include: Building and scrap materials, old tablets, old lanterns, captured forest spirits, torches, information, and most importantly... Plutonium. Of course, attempting to barter is always an option... but these currencies are your best bet for dealing with the various vendors offered by the Night Market. Things like building/scrap material and info can be acquired by any character, even the new ones! Same with torches, though you'll want to be careful, lying to Rastus.
If your character and the vendor can't agree on a deal or if the vendor shuts down the purchase outright and you'd like to pursue the issue further, that will need to be done in a proper NPC thread on the Night Market log.
Finally, if you're looking to chat with the Night Market vendors for any reason, you'll need to do that through a proper NPC thread on the visit log. This page is only for transactions, similar to the permanent item requests page. That said, your character may still use information as a currency through this page; it will just be a flat exchange as opposed to a conversation.
Purchases are not finalized until approved by the vendor! Keep in mind that the vendors of the Night Market can, uh, be assholes? The bulk of what the Night Market sells is fun, bonus crap! You don't need this stuff to succeed in the game, so the NPC vendors are not always designed to be forgiving or cooperative. In short: You get what you get, and sometimes you get nothing for your trouble. IC failure doesn't have to be OOC disappointment!
Here are the vendors and their inventories for the current Night Market visit:
PLUTO
- Special orders - Pluto can procure items just like Rastus, but she can get you specific goods from homeworlds. The more specific the request, the more it will cost. Items ordered through Pluto will arrive on the next ferry.
- Heals - A borrowed gun-looking device allows Pluto to heal even the most grievous of injuries. This item doesn't belong to her, though, so... results may vary
CATHERINE
- Confession - In the place of a standard vendor's stall is a small, modest confessional. Catherine keeps the door open on the priest's side, sitting inside it while she waits for her customers. Feel interested in airing out your grievances? Well, it might not be an official sort of purge, but hop into the curtained compartment and she'll give you a non-judgmental ear to listen. Just don't ask for advice; she's not here to give it. But if you want to pray to her, well, she won't object to being treated like a Goddess.
- A brief reunion - Just want to see someone's face again? A friend, a family member, someone you miss more than anyone else you've ever known? It seems that this mysterious lady has a knack for sensing who it is you desire to see again the most. Exactly how this works, she's not inclined to share, and unfortunately there's no real way to provide you with who it is she's able to show you... but a few meaningful moments could mean some peace of mind for some people.
- Adult toys - A padlocked trunk full of specialty toys and supplies (and apparent torture devices?) to tide over any individual who would consider themselves properly kinky (or perhaps just a tad adventurous in their intimate exploits). Anyone over the age of eighteen is free to browse the wares, but the stall's keeper will keep it locked for anyone who died before reaching a legal age of adulthood. Sorry, kids. Maybe when you've been dead for a few more years.
VARIKS, THE LOYAL
- Restraints & prison supplies - Cages, shackles, handcuffs, chains, rope. Want to keep a forest spirit (or fellow resident) contained and restrained? He's got you covered. Maybe it's for their own good, he may be the Kell of the House of Judgement but he won't question your motives too hard. What he has on display is mostly person-sized restraints and smaller cages for trapping forest spirits to use as currency elsewhere in the Night Market. But if you need something specific he may be able to accommodate.
- Lantern shells - Tired of carrying the same lantern around day after day? Change how it looks with a lantern shell. The "shell" looks like a shimmery 12-sided die in various colors but touch it to your lantern and it'll be absorbed and change your lantern into a specific color / shape / size, etc. They can be removed at will and return your lantern to it's default look. Get multiple shells and have a different lantern every day of the week! You're only as fashionable as your Ghost. Er. Lantern.
- ACCEPTED CURRENCIES - He'll take all the basics, with a preference for lanterns or lantern pieces, and also secrets. Secrets can be about yourself, others, places, the Wild Hunt... The juicier the secret the more valuable it is to him. He probably won't tell Pluto. Probably.
JOHN SILVER
- Ready-made meals - This extremely personable vendor will greet you jovially and invite you up in a very thick, very pirate-y accentβ though it's probably not him that draws you up so much as the mouth-watering smell of cooking food. He has a number of ready-made meals, but he can also whip up something special if you have a specific request. And when he says specific, he MEANS specific... looking at those of you with Certain Dietary Requirements.
Bonza Beast Stew: What's a Bonza Beast? Who knows! Where did he find one on this planet? You'll never find out, because it's a secret recipe. Have a bowl of this hearty stew, though, and you'll find that you'll be pleasantly warm and happy for a good long while.
Wild Rosemary Quiche: Vegetarian and beautifully fragrant. Consuming this will make you particularly nimble for a while.
Fish & Chips: What is says on the tin and possibly the best you've ever had. Wonder what that fish is...? The only side effect is that you have an almost insatiable desire to go swimming. Might want to be careful with that one...
Steamed Buns: A meaty option and the veggie option. Both buns will increase good fortune for a limited period of time.
Apple Rose Puffs: Sweet and delicate, they will also leave you smelling sweetly of flowers for hours afterward.
Baklava: Nutty and sweet, after eating this you feel compelled to say whatever kind things you've been feeling or have been on your mind.
Moonshine: No side effects, unless you count getting completely blasted very quickly.
You can also purchase ready-made packages of ingredients with a written recipe included to take home and cook for later! Except the Moonshine. That you'll have to buy directly.- Poisons - Ask the right questions, and you can get access to Silver's under-the-counter stash of goods. "Poisons" here is used loosely, as it includes concentrated doses of all sorts of concoctions. This includes: deadly poisons of varying intensities, poisons that induce sleep, poisons that will warm you from the inside or that will give you a bone-deep chill, poisons that are actually venom you can put on a blade, etc. All poisons are good for 2 doses, so use them wisely.
- Repairs - Nothing too complicated, mind! Silver is good with mechanical fixes, but not with anything too delicate.
- ACCEPTED CURRENCIES - Silver accepts all the regular kinds of currencies, but he does have a preference for gossip (which he loves), information, and building/scrap materials. He will also gleefully take recipes your character might know and ingredients that have been foraged or brought from the ferry as a form of payment. Keep in mind that the more you ask for, the more you will have to payβ and those poisons don't come cheap.
DR. SCHICKSAL'S HINT-O-MATIC
- AMA - Does your character have any burning questions they just need to have answered? Dr. Schicksal's Hint-O-Matic is a phonebooth-looking device with a screen prompting the user to input a question. When a question is asked, Dr. Schicksal's Hint-O-Matic will spout out an answer! Questions can be typed in via keypad or spoken aloud, and answers will be automatically read aloud for characters that can't read the screen. These answers are always true, no matter what the question, but this information comes at a cost—your character will be blessed with a random status effect for the remainder of the month. We will check permissions posts before issuing a status effect, and please keep in mind that these effects stack! π Each question you ask it (or say at it, rhetorically or otherwise) will "cost" one status effect. And, yes, you can literally ask anything.
When making a purchase from the Night Market, please fill out the form below and post it to the appropriate header in the comments.
The latest Night Market visit can be found here.
Please keep in mind that all purchases must be made while the market is open! Backdated purchases won't be accepted. However, as long as transactions are started ICly while the market is open, you're welcome to belatedly submit those transactions to the purchase page. Please do your best to log the purchases as close to the window as possible, though!

PLUTO

character: Midge Maisel
purchase: Literally her entire room full of clothes from canon.
offer: -Information of any kind (or she'll be more than happy to help find shit out)
-A damn good brisket (That's at least worth some hats)
-Future services to greet them upon arrival (food for the gang once they dock, etc)
no subject
Good news: Pluto can do this, since all of the clothes are presumably in one location! She'll absolutely take homecooked meals as payment, as rations can get slim down on the Helix station...
For the whole room, Pluto wants the brisket, a round of meals for the rest of the gang, and a piece of intel from the cat herd meeting. She heard about that. π
Food deliveries during future visits would be baller, so they can work out an arrangement for that if Midge is interested.
no subject
As for the intel... Midge would offer up the fact that she heard that the forest spirits were really people from before. She's absolutely not horrified at this thought at all, except she really, truly is. Makes her a little queasy, even.

now with correct location
character: Maes Hughes
purchase: If he can afford it, he would want to know if Pluto could get him a photo album of his family (he can be very specific with details if that helps pinpointing and item).
If this request costs too much, then he may just ask if he can get some Amestrian crossword puzzles (probably from a newspaper) so that he could return the favor to Rosinante.
offer: Remember a few weeks back when the town was covered in knitted garments? Well Maes might have claimed quite a few for using at the market. It has to get cold down there in the depths Pluto, come on. He even made sure to get a variety of styles/colors/items/etc.
If he needs to sweeten the pot, he'd offer information about the lantern light effects that he documented up here. He may go so far as to offer up the bracelet he got from his time with The Circle. It's like a magical Apple Watch that served as
his last game'sthe Temple's network. It was able to work in another world before, but apparently here it's cut off from that. Still, it might be interesting to someone working with a special portal, right? He would only offer this as a last resort for that sweet, sweet family photo album.no subject
Maes will have a package waiting for him on the next ferry!

character: Kylo Ren
purchase: He wants his helmet, it was left on Starkiller Base.
offer: He's new so he doesn't have much. He could easily build something for her - he built his own lightsaber - and he's willing to get materials or supplies for her if she needs anything specific.
no subject
Kylo gives her a detailed list of all the stuff he'll need for lightsaber construction, and he lets her superficially inspect his own lightsaber for a few minutes (she won't take it apart, she just wants to look at that dank shit). In return, she'll get him his helmet on the next ferry, as well as all the supplies he'll need to build her lightsaber.
Next Night Market visit, he delivers her lightsaber, and if he makes good on his promise of a super awesome lightsaber, she'll throw in a lantern charm or some GPS coordinates or whatever else she happens to be here with that day.
Yay/nay?

character: bruce wayne
purchase: a tour of the helix base, alternately, whatever history/information on it they have. bruce's emphasis will be on trying to get an idea of the skills, knowledge, and resources used by the people who built this place especially given the old-timey aesthetic everywhere else in beacon. he's not interested in trying to stow away or disclose their location.
offer: the details disclosed by the dreamers from their various locations.
no subject
She'll also give him as best a list as she can of the Night Market's current members and their skillsets, but RIP, I can't see into the future, so like she'll do her very best, shrug emoji!!
It'll take time to get this stuff together and she doesn't have most of the info on hand, so she promises to send it along on the next ferry.
Deal or no deal, Batwayne???

character: Sora
purchase: A Locke High School yearbook from Locke City, New Jersey! Specifically from the 2016-2017 school year. He would also like as many reports from a certain set as he can afford, but he's specifically looking for the 8th and the 9th for right now.
offer: For the yearbook... Remember how Maes came in and set down a bunch of knitwear from the spirits earlier? Yeah, he'll just plonk them right in front of her with possibly enough of the same energy to spark a moment of deja-vu. If that's not enough, he'll offer to fill her in on a couple of things that he learned at the catherding meeting? Sure, she'll have to pick through the way he understands it, but he's a very avid listener and will be happy to answer a couple of questions about it as long as he doesn't suspect that something's up. (He is dupable though!)
For the reports, he has the same offer of catherding information? If that isn't enough... he will reluctantly mention that he has a tablet that he dropped in water that is hers if she wants it. If she wants that, though, he wants information on what she'd want in the future and how he can get it. If it's just more plutonium, sure, he'll accept GPS coordinates for whatever cache she's got in mind, but he's looking to get something incredibly valuable through her portal at some time in the future, so he's pretty sure he'll have to go back and forth for her for a while anyway until he has enough to trade for it. He's looking for a long term deal? He doesn't actually say this because he's not that bright, but that's what he's trying to set up here.
And, uh, well. He'll also hand off some spare chocolates from his batches of Valentine's Day chocolates from last Friday, but this isn't necessarily a part of the deal. (Does she have any food allergies? He'll ask.)
no subject
Stuff she's most interested in knowing: how much of the town everyone has discovered (showing her the map will do), and how much contact everyone's had with Dr. Solis. Third thing is dealer's choice!
As for the long term deal... plutonium is always the quickest way to her heart, but information is also very valuable. What's this incredibly valuable thing that Sora's after?

character: Castiel
purchase: - Either GPS coordinates for Dr Solis' lab, or a hint towards the location, depending on what his offer gets him
- Secondary but also of great interest to him: One or more extra angel blades. In his world, when an angel dies in combat, their sword stays behind to be picked up. The Winchesters and several demons are able to gain acess to and possession of those spare blades in ridiculous numbers during the course of canon. Priority is on the lab location though.
offer: Castiel heard the Night Market has a bit of a struggle with their quantum theory. Castiel, as previously established in his dreamer threads at Dr Solis' lab, knows quantum theory very well, and could offer consultation/aid as per Pluto's requirements.
Additionally, he's willing to share knowledge of various summoning rituals with Pluto that could be extrapolated on for the Night Market's research
And if neither of those are juicy offers... Castiel can read minds. If Pluto wants information... well. Castiel is happy to spend a good amount of his powers on acquiring specific information straight from the source
no subject
The angel blades, though, she can do! She'll assure Castiel that they've got quantum theory covered—she's not sure who's out there spreadin' rumors that she's lacking!!!—but she's curious about these summoning rituals. She hasn't dabbled much with magical/supernatural stuff herself, so she'd love to learn more about stuff that could be potentially useful to them.
She'll grab Castiel two angel blades in exchange for this info! Deal?

character: Vanitas
purchase: two Black Coats
offer: he will offer her a bottled Unversed to do with what she will, and if that isn't enough, he'll offer two: one for each coat. he'll do this all while visibly shaking like a leaf because he's still terrified of the water, so if this offer isn't enough, he will give her something else because it took a lot for him to get down here, including asking Bruce to help him, so he won't want to leave empty handed
no subject
Vanitas will have a package waiting for him on the next ferry!

character: Bucky/Soldat
purchase: They're gonna ask first if their portal is the same portal that Solis (they will not say doctor, it is a Bad Word) opened and discovered the world eaters through, and if so, they're gonna ask if they have logs from those first portal-openings that can be shared with the rest of them up top: molecular readings, energy readings, power fluctuations, textual notes made by lab techs or Solis herself, timestamps, anything at all really. They'd really like to see those logs.
offer: Soldat and Bodhi are making a radio. Not like the tablets, an actual two-way radio, with parts from the scrapyard. They're almost done with it, even. They will make a second one for her people, in the hopes that they can communicate with them up here without having to go through Robin. Soldat's not sure how badly water will interact with radio signals, but they'll at least give it a shot, right?
If that doesn't work, or she needs more, they'll add the location they and Daylight ran into a whole bunch of green-eyed spirits and the story of the conversation they had with said green-eyed spirits. If THAT'S not enough, they'll grab you some goddamn wood and scrap metal to sweeten the deal, geez.
(Of course, if this is not possible at all or there are no logs, that's fine. But after this conversation they're gonna at least give it a shot.)
no subject
The radio endeavor sounds worthwhile to her, but she's doubtful that it'll have the range to connect the town and the station. Getting the station hooked up to the network is the best bet, and that will require either a manual connection similar to what the lighthouse has OR some serious signal boosting... It'll be tricky, either way.
But, Pluto is real interested in those deets about the green-eyed spirits! If Soldat is willing to explain what he's looking to find through the portal logs, Pluto will tell him what she knows/give him some potential leads to follow in exchange for his green-eyed spirit story. If she's not able to help with the portal stuff, she'll throw in a set of GPS coordinates for his trouble. Somewhere real nice, she promises.
Or, like, Soldat could just take the GPS coordinates or pick another thing he's interested in, that's fine too.

character: lucius
purchase: experimental feedback (see below)
offer: lucius will offer a walnut-sized fragment of his core. his heart, basically. it is a small version of a 'life engine', a type of crystal created by higher dimensional beings from his canon.
what it can do: convert matter into energy. output can be dialed to electricity, heat, or other types of radiation. this needs the core to be calibrated to a user, who can then mentally send instructions to the core fragment and it will begin its task of absorbing surrounding matter/emitting the required output.
lucius can authorize pluto to use it, meaning that only she will be able to instruct it as the core identifies people by their souls (or in this case lanterns). once it is detached from him, it cannot do much beyond this.
it also has another function - it can sense or identify 'life energy' which was an important type of energy in his home world. any living thing possesses it and drawing it out from them will result in their death. lucius wants to know if the 'life energy' in his home world has any similar analogues in this world, and if it is the same type of 'food' wanted by the world eaters/has any links to them.
if not he could always provision it as a energy generator to the helix station and pluto can repay him at a later date when he needs something
removing the core fragment will also weaken lucius and his ability to use magic by a significant amount.
no subject
The energy generator idea is a neat option, and Pluto says she might be willing to talk about that in the future. Her station's rigged in a pretty specific way, though, so switching power sources might not be feasible. Womp womp.

character: Misty
purchase:
A) GPS coordinates, pretty much anything suffices.
B) Even just a peek at where they're operating out of, or even a pop-in on a submarine next visit when there's the full three days.
offer:
A) The footage of Robin being given the broken-up lantern from the green-eyes. It's gotta mean something, somebody down there might recognize it.
B) The knowledge that hey! She can teleport! Once she's physically been to a place and has a second to acclimate! Not a terrible emergency resource to have for communicative or practical purposes. Phone-a-friend.
no subject
She wants to know if Misty can teleport with other people, and what she's allowed to take with her object-wise. In exchange for the answers to those questions, she'll hook Misty up with a set of GPS coordinates.
WHAT SAY YOU, MISTY?

character: Rosinante Donquixote
purchase: Newspapers: one each from the Reverie meetings of 1516 and 1520; one from any year if Pluto can find one mentioning a Trafalgar Law.
offer: Lumber and building materials for the two Reverie papers, and for the effort of finding a paper with Law mentioned in it, a little extra - a description of how the town dealt with the first of the World Eaters by hiding in the mines and launching atomic weapons, noting that one was not enough and they never fully verified if more even did anything.
He will not tell Pluto that Dr. Solis met with people in the town personally, but that this was recovered through someone who managed to exchange notes with her and that he believes it to be reliable as it lines up with the little they discovered in the dreams.
