GACHA MACHINE

The gacha machine is now closed! Please see our recent mod announcement for details.

After the events of August's party, the Librarian had gone back and grabbed a peculiar-looking machine from the bonfire, dragging it back over towards the Village. It's not all that flashy looking a machine; rather, it's rusted, some of the lightbulbs shattered, the paint scratched away. It makes the new, yellow-white piece of paper taped carefully to the front all the more noticeable.

There are written instructions there, carefully scrawled. It being the Librarian who wrote them, there's a lot of symbols in place of words, and honestly, it's really more of a tentative grasp on literacy going on here. But with a bit of thinking, you can figure it out:

1. Insert an offering (any offering) into the coin slot
2. Answer the riddle
3. ??
4. Prize!!

There's an array of prizes. Some are useful, some less so. But you'll never know if you don't try, and it might just be worth the effort. Unfortunately, it only responds to people once a week— meaning you can only get four prizes a month! But given the prizes, four might just be overwhelming enough.

[Link is desperate for anything that might help him out while he's trapped in wolf form and eventually decides to visit this weird machine he hears people mentioning.

When nobody else is around he'll pad up with a rupee in his teeth and, with a great deal of effort, inserts it into the coin slot.

fourth week of january

[ No riddles this week - sorry, gacha machine, Sora is up to his chin in this lantern business and he doesn't want to risk it sitting on his answer for days like last time. But he does come by, brush off the extra snow, and drop off a present for the gacha machine like he promised!

It's a photo he took of Beacon with his new camera, with the bonfire and all of its pretty lights! It has the caption "Beacon <3" on it. He first shows the photo to the gacha machine (it doesn't have eyes, so he just waves it in front of its lights and slot - hey, it's a guess) and then tapes to its front as a decoration. He also leaves couple of pennies on top of the slot, paying it forward to any future players who happen to not have change or a present on them, with a sign that says "Free rolls :)" on it.

He promises to come back soon! In reality, it'll be a week and a half until he comes back. Take care, sweet gacha machine! ]

Given Clark has been hard at work making the bridge connecting to the greenhouse out of wood, he's able to bring something nice with him this time: a carved, wooden heart, made with care. Little letters reading SUGAR PIE have been put in like it's a candy heart, and the whole craft's been sandpapered to smooth perfection. ]

Happy Valentine's week, pal. [ This thing's gotta be a pal, right? After Banana Jim and the weird way it works? ] Hope this is a nicer gift.

[ Lots and lots of nice things have happened in the past week since the last time Sora's been here, so he'll be chatting away with the gacha machine quite happily, thanks. Did you know that he has a new friend here? And she likes him! What a great week.

Two offerings today! He's gone and pulled a bit of red and pink ribbon from the general store with a pair of scissors into little curls that he'll tie in a bow around the gacha machine's handle. He'll be back to snip it away next week so it doesn't get too sad and battered, but he'll first take a picture with his tablet to commemorate. Say cheese!

For the riddle, he made a flat piece of chocolate for the gacha machine's slot for easy slot insertion. It's studded with nuts and layered with peanut butter and jam! ]

[ Coming with a pair of scissors this week to snip off that ribbon! Aw, it looks so cute though, he's sorry to see it go. Maybe he should ask some of his artsier friends to see if they can get some more year round decorations going on the gacha machine? This sounds like a fun project! Sora chatters away about all the other holidays he's gonna get them ready for too! Easter and St. Paddy's Day are next!

That aurora sure is nice, huh? Not gonna put in any opals, but he will write the name of a girl who cheered him up once in the past on a piece of paper, fold it in half, and slide it in. ]

He explains that he's going to be doing a lot of baking and cooking this month because he's celebrating his own birthday in a week and a friend's birthday at the end of the month! He hasn't done a lot of baking before so he's trying to get as much practice in as he can. ]
